During Art Basel Miami we presented When The Earth Breathes at The Ritz Carlton South Beach. This installation was created in collaboration with Christian Brinkmann, Blue Square X and Tremble and became one of the highlights of the week for me.
When The Earth Breathes is a digital and fully interactive art installation that reacts to movement. Touching a real flower in front of the screen, let the artwork on the screen respond in a unique way. It invites people to slow down and reconnect with the world around them. The idea came from a simple thought. The earth carries us every day, yet we rarely pause to listen to it. I wanted to create a moment where visitors could feel the presence of our planet again.
Blue Square X helped us bring the digital world to life with their screens and technology. Tremble offered daily pilates sessions inside the installation so guests could experience the artwork not only visually but also through their body and breath. They also organised panels together with their founder, Christian and myself. We hosted conversations with artists from The New Current with Marlies Verhoeven from The Cultivist as our moderator.
The installation became a place where people connected with the artwork, with others and with themselves. Many told us that it felt calming, grounding and inspiring. For me this is the true power of art. It allows us to feel a story instead of only understanding it.
This project opened new doors and brought new ideas for the future. I look forward to building further on everything we started here.
